A friend pointed out that I haven't posted anything in quite some time so I figured I'd better write something...anything to show that I'm still here. Life simply got in the way this summer.
We had a new God-daughter born, our neice's college graduation party was at our house last weekend and I signed up for school (college) and have been gathering all my information for financial aid, etc to be ready for the August start date. If I don't get all my ducks in a row soon I'll have to wait for a September or October start date. I'm in an accelerated program at Albertus Magnus school where I'm considered a full-time student and we take a new class every 5-weeks. The program sounds wonderful and is supposed to not create burn-out, but creates a balance between work and home....we'll see....
In addition to this I have a lot going on at work right now, between gathering information to write reviews and I've been appointed the "Move Coordinator" for our upcoming move slated for next spring. I do like to be "in the know" so this project is right up my alley. I like to know where I'm sitting, what my environment will look like and so on..... I like surprises when it comes to birthdays and Christmas, but not in my environment. I guess we're all a bit OCD about something. ;o)
Sewing news....I found a sewing/fitting teacher in our area and she will have new classes starting in September. She is also a self-employed designer and makes mostly prom and wedding gowns for ladies in the area. I found her through her mother who happened to be at my recent tag sale a/k/a yard sale or garage sale for those wondering what on earth a "tag sale" is. I happened to have some home dec fabric for sale and DH who is always ready to sell off all the fabric in my sewing room ended up in a conversation with her about - what else- selling and collecting fabric. ;o) I'm not holding my breath as the last time I signed up for fitting classes it didn't work out, and there really are no classes to be had in our area. Hopefully this time Elle and I will be able to take the classes and work on our projects. Well, Elle works on hers....I just look at mine...sigh.
I do have a couple of items cut out and I'm committed to making another Christening Gown for our new God-daughter, for which I have been gathering supplies.....silk shantung and cotton batiste to start. I have lots of ribbon and a boatload of different venice laces, along with silk organza for underlining. I just need to figure out the style, which I'd like to be somewhat different from her sister's gown. The new dress will be just as long as her sister's, but I'd like the trimmings to be different.

Fitness Challenge - I bought a very cool game called, "The Fitness Challenge". DH thinks I'm nuts and that we could create our own game and save $29.99. Of course he conveniently forgets that the supplies to make said game would start to add up. Anywhoooo....this is the game and the link to the website http://www.thefitnesschallenge.com/ I figure since I have been no where near the gym in the past couple of months and he does next to nothing exercise-wise that this would be a fun way to get us off our butts. He and I are not really competitive, but we do have certain chores we will not do and we leave up to the other to do them. For example I am allergic to mowing the lawn and most outside work. He is allergic to dishes, making the bed and folding laundry. If we had to trade off on these tasks or workout, you bet your backside we'd workout. ;o) I'm going to rip the cellophane off the box tonight and get us started.

Hello. I hope the fitting class is totally different for you this time. I have to fit alone and wait for the photos to find out all the troubles. Bleh, not recommended!
Now to see if I can get the OpenID thing to work for me...

Lucky God-daughter to have such a beautiful christening gown, and your new one will get her own. Best of luck on your coursework, it sounds like a great opportunity. I do hope we can find time to take that elusive fitting class this fall, but your schedule sure does sound full and I will certainly understand if that chews up all your spare time.
Hey MB, your HP Martini Jacket sure looks fab, and you do all that fitting alone! (MB and I just took a Stich-and-Flip class at PR, go see her beautiful organza snf'd jacket.)
Nice to see you back on here! I never get a chance to catch up with you at work anymore, so this was a great update.
Gorgeous, gorgeous christening gown! And what a little doll!
What a BEAUTIFUL christening gown! Almost as beautiful as your god-daughter! ;)
Good luck with the fitting class! :)
