Since I haven't started sewing yet I've decided to concentrate on continuing to build and spread positive energy. Like the rest of the world I can fall into gossip and complaining at the drop of a hat and I really don't like that about myself. It's time to work on a permanent change. That purple bracelet...well that's going to help me. I'm ordering one from Complaintfreeworld.org and anyone who sees me daily will probably see me switch the thing from wrist to wrist many times a day. ;o) How it works is you pick a wrist as a starting point. This is the wrist the bracelet will hopefully remain on all the time. Every time you complain, criticize or gossip you move it to the other wrist, and so on, and so on. The goal is to go 21 days without needing to move the bracelet. It takes most people 6-8 months to achieve this goal.

If you don't like somthing, change it.
If you can't change it, change your attitude.
Don't complain.
---Maya Angelou

This sums it up in a nutshell. I've been working hard lately to stop complaining, criticizing and gossiping. Whew! It isn't easy and I fall off the wagon a lot. But I can already feel a difference in myself and my attitude. I find myself reacting with humor and calmness vs irritation and agitation. Do you know the average person complains at least 20 times each day? Sad isn't it? No wonder we have road rage and we feel irritable all the time.

I found it amazing and personally freeing when I sat down and thought about the fact that these negative behaviors are learned. We're not born with them. I am living proof of this statement. When I was a youngster I was very close to my maternal grandmother. I was her only grandchild (no, she didn't believe in spoiling children) I went to live with her for about 6-8 weeks when I was a baby and my mother was in school. She and I had a tighter bond than I had with my mother. She didn't tolerate bad moods and taking problems out on other people. For many years I was the same way....and then I grew up....

When I see people proud of their bad moods and women who love to call themselves a bitch I'm mystified. I want to be proud of what I've accomplished and what I help other people accomplish. I'd like to be known as happy, kind-hearted, supportive and encouraging. I certainly don't want to be known as a bitch. Not that I haven't been one many times in my life.

Anyway, onto some book recommendations. When I obsess over something I have to purchase at least 4 books on the subject before I'm happy....sigh...OCD issues. I love to collect books ;o)
